As UK economic growth surges ahead of other developed nations, Conservatives are continuing to take action to stimulate job creation and help people into work.
This month, businesses in England are able to bid in round six of the Regional Growth Fund. The Fund is worth £3.2 billion and supports projects using private sector investment to create growth and jobs. The scheme has already supported the creation of 93,000 jobs in the North West, just some of the 2 million jobs created since the Conservative-led government took office.
During the local election campaign I visited two brilliant Chorley manufacturers. Shackerley, which is based in Euxton, manufactures ceramic granite cladding for high profile buildings across the UK and internationally. Kerax Ltd is based on Cowling Road in Chorley and manufactures high-specification wax for the international market. Both of these firms are innovating, expanding and creating jobs, proving that the strong performance of manufacturing across the UK is being enjoyed here in Chorley.
Other smaller local businesses that I am in regular contact with are expressing their confidence to me. From the fantastic Buckshaw based children’s activity centre Tiny Rockers, to innovative new start-up The Sewing Box Chorley, evidence is growing that this is a sustained and balanced recovery that will increasingly benefit working people.
In May 2015, voters in Chorley and across the UK will need to decide whether they want to vote for this record of investment and job creation, or risk putting it all in the hands of Ed Miliband’s Labour Party.
Yours as ever,
Rob Loughenbury
