"The Labour Party want to make the next election about the cost of living? Fine by me."writes parliamentary candidate Rob Loughenbury.
"The Conservatives have taken strong action to help people on low and middle incomes. We have abolished income tax for two million workers on low salaries and frozen council tax for three consecutive years. Thanks to our freeze on fuel tax, petrol at the pump is 13p lower than planned by the last Labour government. This is real money being put back in the pockets of the hard working people who earn it.
Labour want to talk about the cost of living because they have been proven wrong on the economy. They said that spending was being reduced too quickly and that the economy was stalling as a result. But the UK economy is growing and beginning to grow strongly. The deficit left by Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband has been cut by more than a third. Unemployment continues to fall.
As the UK economy moves into the light, the Conservatives are taking action to help hard working people keep more of their money."
