Councillor Eric Bell is supporting a petition calling for Factory Lane, which is on National Bike Route 55, to be adopted by Lancashire County Council, as users campaign to raise £3,680 to help repair the lane which is off Preston Road in the village.
Cllr Bell said that he expected £2,000 to be generously donated by local businesses, and hopes that Whittle le Woods Parish Council will be able to help too.
Cllr Eric Bell said "We've had all these complaints, so it's up to us as a community to do something about it. We're going to resurface it for about thirty metres over the worst bit."
Adding "Many road users who travel down Factory lane to visit Cuerden Valley Park, Cheeky Monkeys and the primary school and allotments have been faced with dangerous road conditions with deep potholes that can damage cars and throw cyclists off their bikes".
"Local businesses and users pay their council tax; that's why we want the County Council to adopt the road."
County Councillor for Chorley North Mark Perks is backing their initiative.
