Charnock Richard resident Councillor Paul Leadbetter has been elected opposition leader by Chorley's Conservatives councillors to succeed Cllr Mark Perks who has chosen to withdraw from the role through ill health.
Cllr Leadbetter, who represents residents in Charnock Richard, Coppull West and Heskin, will be joined by Cllr Greg Morgan as his deputy leader.
Next year the Chorley Conservatives will be contesting thirteen Chorley Borough council Wards, defending two seats and contesting ten Labour-held seats.
