A public consultation on proposals to shape future decisions on the court and tribunal estate was launched on 18th January, as part of the transformation of our justice system and Chorley Conservatives are urging everyone to have their say.
In their press release, the Courts and Tribunals service say that they want to modernise the justice system. They write "HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is working alongside the judiciary to modernise the justice system to make access to justice quicker, easier and fairer for all - and enable some work to be held away from a physical court building."
Chorley's Conservative opposition group leader, Cllr Alan Cullens remarks 'Local Conservative Councillors are opposed to the closure of our Magistrate Courts which puts at risk local jobs including court staff and legal practitioners. Justice should be delivered locally by local people.’
The consultation closes on 29th March 2018. What do you think?
