Chorley based children's hospice, Derian House, has been showing off its newly refurbished facilities to visitors from the heart of government.
Derian House, which is renowned throughout the region for the high quality of its specialist palliative and respite care for life threatened children, has recently fully reopened following a major refurbishment programme. This week the children's hospice was visited by Cabinet Minister, Grant Shapps, Chairman of the Conservative Party, and Rob Loughenbury, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Chorley.
Rob Loughenbury said, "Derian House provides crucial care and support for more than 250 families facing the most challenging circumstances, with a further 150 receiving ongoing bereavement support. As a parent, I understand the value of the incredible work done by its dedicated staff and volunteers. Nothing is more important than caring for your family and Derian House provides vital care and support for children and their families when they need it most.
It has been great to see the newly refurbished facilities which are such a boost to the children and families who use its specialist services. Of course, as a charity with a financial target of £2.9 million required this year, the hospice could not continue to provide its fantastic service without so many people making a gift of their time and money. I find it impossible to think of a more valuable and worthy cause.”
Said Head of Fundraising for Derian House, Susie Poppitt, “2013 has proved to be an exciting year for the hospice as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary. The recent refurbishment has provided a vibrant environment for the families who use our specialist services, and we have been delighted to welcome Grant Shapps and Rob Loughenbury to Derian House to see for themselves the facilities which are so vital to children and families throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria.”
