A top government minister has visited the offices of Chorley Community Housing to hear first-hand how welfare reform is affecting the local social housing market.
Chorley Community Housing is the social housing provider for Chorley Borough. The organisation is part of the Adactus Housing Group, which provides social housing across the North West. Last week Mark Harper MP, Conservative Minister of State for Immigration, and Rob Loughenbury, prospective Conservative MP for Chorley, visited the offices of Chorley Community Housing on St Thomas Road near the town centre. Rob and Mark met senior managers and discussed the local provision of social housing and the effect of welfare reform on their work.
Rob said, “Chorley Community Housing is clearly a very high-performing organisation. It helps local people with particular needs or on low incomes to enjoy a secure and well maintained home. The Minister and I find it seriously impressive how their team has adapted to the ongoing welfare reform programme.
“It is a top priority of mine to build a strong relationship with Chorley Community Housing and stay in touch with the views and needs of its tenants.”
