Next week voters across Chorley will go to the polls in the local elections.
These elections are so important as they will shape the decisions that affect the lives of every one of us on a day to day basis.
From bin collections and pot hole repairs to encouraging business growth and investment, councillors are there to represent your community and are at the heart of local democracy.
Places such as Chorley, which alongside our other great northern towns and cities, once helped to drive the industrial revolution, still have so much potential today and have a key role to play in our ambitions for the Northern Powerhouse.
Chorley Conservatives have a vision for the region. A vision with the community at its heart. As their manifesto pledges they want Chorley to be a better place to live, shop and do business. A better place to bring up a family, for learning and earning and most importantly a better place to call home.
Across the North West since 2010 unemployment is down by half, there are 93,000 more small businesses, 183,000 more children are now at good or outstanding schools, and there have been over 560,000 apprenticeship starts.
These achievements echo the manifesto Chorley Conservatives have pledged to deliver for their area. They want to attract more businesses to the region, while showcasing the best the town already has to offer.
Group leader Alan Cullens is rightly proud of his home town and alongside his team have drawn up a plan to see it thrive for future generations.
I am confident the Conservatives are best placed to do this, delivering a plan which has been shaped with the community at its heart, putting Chorley first.
