Alan Cullens, the Conservative candidate for Lancashire's Chorley Rural North Division, has won in todays four-way election.
The final result was:-
Alan Cullens Conservative 1,144
Stephen Fenn Liberal Democrats 125
Yvonne Hargreaves Labour 1,042
Christopher Suart UKIP 303
The County Division covers local Wards including Clayton West and Cuerden, Clayton le Woods North and Brindle and Hoghton.
Alan Cullens paid tribute to his predecessor, the late Mike Devaney, and was sad that the by-election had to be called.
