New parliamentary boundaries are now confirmed following a two year consultation period.
For Chorley that means that Charnock Richard, Euxton South and Heskin in the two Wards of Ecclestion, Heskin and Charnock Richard, and Croston, Mawdesley and Euxton South currently in the Chorley constituency will join the rest of their wards already in the South Ribble constituency.
The boundary review will now take place every eight years to ensure that every Member of Parliament has a similar number of constituents.
In the past, an MP with only 60,000 constituents had the same voting power in parliament as another with 80,000 constituents, which skews representation of the electorate.
