Chorley Conservatives are pleased that the Parliamentary Boundary Review has recommended that the new Chorley Constituency should once again cover the same population as Chorley Borough Council - one Chorley.
In the previous review Chorley Borough communities of Bretherton, Croston, Eccleston, Mawdesley and Ulnes Walton were removed from the Chorley constituency to form part of the neighbouring South Ribble constituency. This caused great confusion for communities.
The new review aims to reduce the number of members of parliament and equalise the number of electors in each constituency.
We recommend Chorley people support the new Chorley Constituency proposals by taking part in the public consultation.
South Ribble Conservatives met yesterday and confirmed that they were content with proposals for their constituency and were pleased for Chorley.
Notes:
In the last review some Chorley councillors asked the Inspector if it was possible that Brindle and Hoghton and Wheelton and Withnell Wards leave Chorley to Ribble Valley bringing in Bamber Bridge East and Bamber Bridge West. Submissions
