ROB LOUGHENBURY WRITES "Conservatives want you to be able to own your home, keep your money and be able to pass these on to your children.
A new Conservative Government will extend Help to Buy. This policy has already helped 269 people in Chorley buy their first home – I want to double this figure in the next five years.
We will also give social housing tenants the Right to Buy their property at a discount, helping people on modest incomes realise their dream of home ownership.
And we will build 200,000 starter homes, available at a 20% discount to first time buyers younger than 40.
Meanwhile, we will cut income tax and freeze VAT and national insurance contributions, whilst abolishing inheritance tax on the family home. You get taxed for enough in life, without being taxed for dying as well.
As Councils across England finalise their Local Plans, we will see house building accelerate, filling the supply pipeline with the homes demanded by young people getting onto the housing ladder.
Here in Chorley, a Local Plan is more or less in place and enough land has been identified for an 8 year supply of new homes. Fantastic new communities like Buckshaw, Duxbury Manor and Rivington View are growing up.
My first priority for Chorley in the next five years is to make sure enough school places are put in place to meet the growth in our community. If elected on May 7, on May 8 I will be in contact with Lancashire County Council and Chorley Borough Council to get a plan in place to provide enough classrooms and schools for local families."
