Despite the most focused and targeted campaign we have seen in Chorley for many years, we were unsuccessful in keeping Chorley Council in Conservative control. Chorley Conservatives thanks all those helpers who supported candidates like defending Alan Cullens (Clayton North) and Debra Platt (Euxton North) who sadly lost their seats to Labour.
We also praise the efforts of new candidates David Moran (Wheelton and Withnell) and Barbara Catterall (Heath Charnock and Rivington) who fought valiently in their Wards. David worked very hard to try and win back Wheelton and Withnell from Labour, and Barbara lost out to Labour who actively fought the Heath Charnock and Rivington Ward.
David Dickinson (Brindle and Hoghton) and John Walker (Clayton and Whittle) both retained their seats whilst we fielded candidates in every other Ward. Like Mike Devaney and Elliot Matthews in Adlington and Anderton; Simon Parkinson in Chorley East; Sandra Mercer in Chorley North East; David Metcalfe in Chorley North West; Sam Chapman in Chorley South East; Terry Cook in Chorley South West and Peter Malpas in Coppull.
South Ribble Conservative Association retained the two Chorley Borough Council Conservative Wards of Eccleston and Mawdesley and Lostock Wards with the re-election of Henry Caunce and new Councillor John Dalton.
We now begin work on the Lancashire County Council elections in 2013 where we are defending six of the seven Divisions across Chorley.
